Choosing A Pet
FAAS believes in an adoption process that carefully matches the lifestyle and expectations of our adopters with the needs of our animals. This helps ensure a successful adoption and that pets remain in their new homes for the rest of their lives.
We encourage you to get to know the animal in which you are interested. Ideally, everyone in the household will be available to meet the potential adoptee. All children in your household who are 12 years and under must be present to meet the pet you are adopting.
If you are interested in adopting a dog and already have a dog at home, we ask that your dog meet the new dog before the adoption is completed. You may bring your dog with you to the shelter and staff will assist with the introduction.
We reserve the right to require these meetings to ensure our animals find a good forever fit. In most cases, pets can go home the same day.
In order to find homes for our animals as quickly as possible, we do not place holds.
You do not need to complete an application or make an appointment to adopt. Simply come to the shelter during our open adoption hours (Wed - Sun 11am-5pm).
For animals that are in foster homes, please complete the application (imbed?) and a staff member will contact you to make an appointment to meet the animal.
Please note that visitors may not walk through the shelter on their own to browse all animals. When you arrive, staff will ask you to complete a brief adoption questionnaire to help match your needs. Staff will then assist you with meeting animals.
